About ITCI

The International Trade Compliance Institute (ITCI) was established in 2008 by the El Camino College Center for International Trade Development (CITD) in Torrance, California, with start-up grant funding from the U.S. Department of Education. The extensive ITCI website was initially developed by then CITD Director Maurice Kogon, CITD Deputy Director Bronwen Madden, and three CITD Interns -- Marika Verdy, Grace Warrick, and Cristina Nicoaro. The ITCI Website is now maintained solely by Maurice Kogon, who retired as CITD Director in 2012.

The extensive ITCI website has four major components:

Regulatory Database includes hundreds of compliance-related Terms/Acronyms; Laws/Acts/Regulations; Treaties/Agreements/Conventions; Documents; and Organizations/Agencies.

Regulatory FAQ Database includes thousands of authoritative FAQs covering all aspects of U.S. export and import controls, foreign import controls, and international/multilateral trade controls under various treaties and conventions.

Trade Information Database (TID) — an extensive one-stop source of trade information drawn from many different U.S. Government, international, and non-governmental Websites. The TID is organized in 12 broad categories and 74 subcategories, with nearly 1,000 direct links to export/import guides; trade reference tools; product-and country-specific statistics and market research; trade directories, trade opportunities; tariff and non-tariff trade barriers; trade promotion programs; guides to trade finance, documentation, and transportation; and sources of trade assistance.

Export Start-up Kit includes links to free resources and tools developed by Maurice Kogon to help educate start-up exporters in particular on the basics of exporting, assess their likely export potential and readiness, point them directly to Web resources that can help them at each stage of the export process, and answer questions that typically arise in their evolution as exporters.
